Five Best & Worst Looks from the Met Gala 2018

Five Best & Worst Looks from the Met Gala 2018

We all know that we had to pull an all-nighter for #MetGala2018 since it’s arguably fashion’s most important night of the year. From slayers to a shockingly outrageous lot of special celebrities gracing the red carpet at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York - we made sure to pen down our instant thoughts. The show was based on the theme “Heavenly Bodies” inspiring fashion with Catholic imagination, featuring crosses, classic medieval pieces, headdresses, wings, and lots of red and gold. The celebrities were a flash of inspirational iconography. We made our Best & Worst Dressed Met Gala decisions not merely by what he or she wore, but by how delectable they looked in it.

Best Dressed Met Gala 2018

5. Priyanka Chopra

This year Priyanka didn’t only snag full points from the onlookers but stayed true to the theme as well. Pairing a red velvet Ralph Lauren dress with a gold chain-mail headdress – she looked as entrancing as ever. Her stunning headdress required 250 hours of work involving Swarovski crystals and neat beadwork.

4. Gigi Hadid

Gigi never disappoints and rightly so, bedazzled in an Atelier Versace gown, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and Christian Louboutin shoes. Her gown was an embodiment of shattered glass or feathers to be exact, and that dangerously high slit lent her legs full display. Her makeup was on-point, further adding an eye capturing sheen to her outfit.

3. Kate Bosworth

Talk about the virginal bride, Kate simply wowed the audience with her gold, almost ivory colored Oscar de la Renta gown, Tacori jewelry, and her angelic head wrap which gave her the image of a weeping Madonna. Kate looked undeniably regal and tremendously pretty in the entire look.

2. Zendaya

She always does it with class and her salute to the modern-day Joan of Arc was not only extremely impressive but successful as well. Her Versace chainmail dress looked like it was straight from the battlefield, with all its meticulous tiny sequins, a dramatic train, and metalwork shoulders – she definitely looked part of the theme, #heavenlybodies

1. Blake Lively

Learn to do it like Blake to mark the night with extreme sophistication and royalty. Exhibiting a Ruby Atelier Versace gown that took nearly 600 hours to make, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and Judith Leiber Couture bag – Lively looked like a walking goddess. The detailing of her garb and glimpses of her fit body really paid off!

Worst Dressed Met Gala 2018

5. Amal Clooney

“That’s where our missing curtains went,” was our initial reaction to Amal Clooney’s Met entrance. For someone who looks so intelligent definitely didn’t show it when it came to decision making. Her outfit didn’t only follow the theme of its own but the pants made it seem completely off. If it hadn’t been the pants sectioning the halo of the gown, she might have pulled a better look.

  4. Katy Perry

Her dress was a display of trying “too hard” and the wings certainly didn’t wing it. Not only did she had to get an open-top limo for her Versace gown but couldn’t sit down to enjoy the eating moments. So much hard work didn’t earn a reward in our hearts, maybe the wings would have been better at a Victoria’s Secret Angels fashion show, eh?

3. Sarah Jessica Park

We love it, we love it NOT! Mind you, the headdress was interesting but apart from that, Parker had a lot going on in her dress which compelled us to give a yawn. I mean who really cares about so much busyness and that’s what made us put her in the worst dressed looks. The gear should’ve made a lot more sense if it was plain with just that headdress.

2. Shailene Woodley

If Tin Man had been an outfit, we’re sure it would have been like the dress Sweet Shailene Woodley wore to this year’s Met Gala. Not only her outfit but her hairstyle was in a league of its own. Last minute decisions can take you to complete wrong turns!

1. Frances McDormand

Who gives a F*** about a theme and Frances confirmed that she was decidedly busy in creating her own signature style. Well, darling, you looked like you just came out of “Alice in Wonderland” where mystical creatures take the center stage but unfortunately, that costume earned you the infamous tag.

Ending Words

No doubt, this year’s Met Gala was one of the most glamorous nights ever. It ignited our inner curiosity and provided us the opportunity of making extremely cutting remarks. However, there were some celebrities that we had a love/hate relationship with, such as Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Cara Delevingne, and Kylie Jenner.

And there are the ones that are worth mentioning as well, namely the sexy Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner was looking adorbs, there wouldn’t be been a better Angel than Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Amanda Seyfried looked like a ray of sunshine, plus both Hailee Baldwin and Shawn Mendes were a cute sight to behold.
